thegroup's history  began  in  february of 2005.

 

the founders of thegroup, zoltan szigeti, bogdan nicola and  mihaela nicola, decided to take a new journey into the future with the single objective of creating an organization where people will enjoy working for brands.

in 2005, after ten months of activity, thegroup had won 41 pitches across all disciplines, placed 35 brands in its portfolio and had grown from 5 people to 63 people.  thegroup ranked number one in romania in terms of profit generated.


in 2006 thegroup had expanded and developed new disciplines.  we launched two new media agencies, concluded an international partnership for our public relations agency, launched the interactive communication company, the research agency, a company specialized in management of outdoor advertising and a division of retail marketing implementation.

in 2007 thegroup developed new companies and competencies.  our event management capabilities as well as talent to create media content (see petocuri.ro) gave us new business perspectives.  with a turnover of 99.8 million euro in 2007, thegroup become the number one agency in romania, a success that had never been achieved by a local company in the past.

 

in 2008 thegroup was the first agency ever to exceed 100 million euro in turnover while keeping it's market leader position in the romanian advertising industry.  we had grown to be almost 200 people working under the umbrella of thegroup consisting of 14 different companies.

 

although 2009 brought with it the financial and economic crises, thegroup managed to increase its market share.  turnover of thegroup in 2009 decreased by almost 20% compared to 2008, but the industry itself has decreased by 30% - and therefore thegroup continued for the third consecutive year, to lead in romania's communication industry.
